We’re excited to welcome Claire to the DIAL Team in the exciting new role: Community Connector (Disability Sport and Physical Activity).
Claire supports disabled people in Barnsley to get more active and make new connections. She plays an important role in making sure the voices and needs of disabled people are heard and acted on when it comes to physical activity.
Claire says, “Hello!
It’s been one month since I started working at DIAL as a Community Connector for Disability. I’m really enjoying my new role!
I’ve visited some amazing organisations that deliver disabled and inclusive sessions, including The Shaw Foundation, Grass Roots, Focus 4 Vision, Barnsley FC Community Trust, the Metrodome, and Horizon CC. I’ve also chatted with lots of disabled people about anything related to activity and moving.
Over the next few months, I’ll continue to visit organisations that deliver disabled sports, as well as look for new organisations to work with. If you know of any sessions in Barnsley, please get in touch with me at DIAL so we can work together.
If you’re a disabled/neurodivergent resident, or have a chronic health issue, and you’d like to take part in a new activity or get involved with the project in any way, please also get in touch. I’d love to hear from you!
Early next year, I’ll be offering a nature walk and wheels at Locke Park. More details to come soon.
I hope to see you all soon!”
