Are you passionate about making a difference for disabled people in our community?
DIAL are looking for new trustees to join our friendly and dedicated team!
We’re a local, user-led charity that’s been supporting disabled people since 1985. From the very beginning, we’ve believed that disabled people are the real experts when it comes to understanding their own needs, and that sharing those experiences and insights helps create a stronger, fairer community for everyone.
Today, we’re proud to remain an independent organisation run by and for disabled people. We provide advice, information, and practical support to disabled people, their families, and carers across Barnsley, responding to what our community tells us they need.
Our trustees play a vital role in guiding our work, connecting with local networks, and making sure local service providers and decision-makers hear the voices of disabled people. Together, we help shape better opportunities in Barnsley.
If you’re passionate about equality, inclusion, and empowering others to live independent and fulfilling lives, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you have lived experience of disability, professional skills to share, or simply a big heart for your community, you could be a perfect fit for our board.
Don’t just take our word for it, Peter and Nigel, two of our Trustees, had this to say…

Help Shape the Future of DIAL Barnsley!
We’re at an exciting point in our journey, and we’re looking for new Trustees to join us as we grow and strengthen our work in the local community.
Right now, we’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience in accounting and finance, property and facilities management, or marketing and PR. If you have skills in any of these areas and want to use them to make a real difference, we’d love to have you on board!
We’re also committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. At the moment, women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community are under-represented in our Board of Trustees, so we warmly encourage applications from people in these groups. We have clear policies in place to make sure everyone is treated fairly and with respect throughout the process.
By joining our Board of Trustees, you’ll bring fresh ideas, insight, and expertise that will help us continue to expand our reach, deepen our impact, and ensure disabled people’s voices are always heard.
Does this sound like you?
If you have the experience, enthusiasm, and commitment to help guide DIAL Barnsley into the future, we’d love to hear from you.
