Chief Executive Officer
Direct dial 01226 444070
My job is to steer and guide DIAL’s strategic direction. I must really love my role because I have been doing it for over 30 years! I am passionate about delivering excellence, valuing differences and co-producing everything that we do. At home I love to read and I am currently doing “1000 books to read before you die”
My job at DIAL is to find out what our local disabled people need and then design the services to fit – that’s the easy bit! After that I have to persuade someone to give us the money so we can deliver those services. When I’m not chasing funding, I like to chill out on my narrowboat with hubby and Maggie the lurcher.
Team Leader (Advice & Information)
At DIAL my role is to manage and motivate my troops, ensuring the advice given meets our quality standards and is peer-led and person-centred. I like to spend my spare time with my family. I enjoy gaming with my son and I am a real film buff.
ICAS Lead Advocate
At DIAL my job is to help clients through the process of complaining about the NHS or Social Services. It’s a very busy role to have. Things are usually pretty hectic during the week but, when I’m not here, I like to walk the dog, Willow; help my daughter out with her pony, Bramble; and relax on weekends at the coast.
Community Outreach Advisor (Welfare Rights)
Hello I’m Mick, I deliver outreach sessions in the North Area Council Wards – where people can drop in without an appointment to get advice. I enjoy meeting and supporting local people who live, work and play there. Outside of work, my leisure time now involves running around and playing all kinds of roles entertaining my 4 granddaughters.
Volunteer Support Officer
My job at DIAL is to support and involve the volunteers in everything we do. I am also responsible for organising our Volunteer Celebration Event, a hugely important night in the DIAL calendar. In my spare time I enjoy going to see live music, especially if fireworks are involved.
Personalisation Lead (Personal Health Budgets & Peer Support)
Here at DIAL I support people with long term health conditions to access and plan their Personal Health Budgets. I am also developing a new peer network that brings together people to share their experiences. I have loads of hobbies from sewing my own clothes, searching through charity shops and fishing in the sunshine.
I have been doing my job as Peer Advisor for 10 years, both as a volunteer and paid member of staff. I enjoy doing my very best to empower disabled people and carers and find my role very rewarding. When I am allowed down time, my partner and I love fishing, bike riding, and watching football together with our cats Ruby and Jasper.
Fuel Poverty Advisor
My job at DIAL is to provide advice and information to local disabled people who are experiencing fuel poverty. I have personal experience of disability and fuel poverty so know where people are coming from. In my spare time I like to read detective novels and play bingo!
I have been a peer advisor at DIAL for 10 years and still love every minute of my job. I realise that understanding and compassion goes a long way and if I can make people smile along the way it always helps. I used to enjoy watching football and PC gaming but, since my grandchildren were born, I only have time for them now and I love it.
First Contact Coordinator
As my job title suggests I co-ordinate the volunteer team and we are the first people you speak to when you ring DIAL. If the team can help you they will, if not they’ll pass you to a relevant advisor. I am usually kept very busy keeping all the hard working advisors on their toes! In my spare time I love spending quality time with my family.
Project Co-ordinator for hOurbank
What a great job I have, working with people who feel passionate about helping others. I take care of hOurbank – making things happen, such as one to one time exchanges, community events and fundraising. Away from work I enjoy spending time with my lovely family, cultivating my allotment and cooking with the various crops I grow.
